Let me tell you, if you're an Intermediate or Advanced skier or snowboarder, Sauze really shines.
If you want to clock up the kilometres, push yourself in the park or practise your piste carving, Sauze d’Oulx is an absolute dream. The resort is famous for its tree-lined runs & wide rolling reds that keep things interesting all day. And then there's the rest of the area to explore...
...Your Six Day Via Lattea lift pass allows unlimited skiing in the resorts of Sauze, San Sicario, Sestriere & Claviere and two days in both the French resort of Montgenevre and the unconnected resort of Bardonecchia (15 mins by car from The Hideaway Holiday Apartments)
The Hideaway Apartments & Sauze d'Oulx are a great base for intermediate & advanced skiers, but make sure you get yourself to the connected areas, too.
Montgenevre often has the best snow conditions, especially early & late in the season. There's great little snow park & an awesome boardercross. It's also got some really tasty black runs.
Claviere is amazing on a powder day. Expect long, playful reds and fresh tracks through the trees. It's a real hidden gem, that's often overlooked by people passing through
San Sicario is sunkissed, wide & tree-lined and great for clocking up top speeds on the rollers. It can get slushy in the afternoon, and that means the few people who are there typically move on, so it's quieter than other areas, too.
There's plenty of off-piste to be found in Sestriere and Sauze in the high season, but get yourself a guide if you want to explore it.
With over 400km of pistes, you’ll never run out of options, and the variety of terrain means you can pick your day based on the weather and snow conditions.

San Sicario – Sunshine & Scenic Runs ☀️
On a bluebird day, head for the long, sun-drenched pistes, San Sicario is a must. The runs are wide, scenic, and perfect for relaxed carving. Just be aware — to get back to Sauze you’ll need to take a very long drag lift. Snowboarders, especially beginners, beware!
Sauze d'Oulx - Flat Light & Poor Conditions ❄️
If it's white-out weather or the winds are high, your best bet is staying close to home. Sauze has a load of trees that protect you from the worst out of low light. And it's also important to know that the lift link between Sauze d'Oulx and Sestriere can close in bad weather (and although it might not feel windy down in town, up at the top it can be blowing a gale and the lifts won't run). You'll hear announcements over the tannoy system if there's a risk the link between Sauze & Sestriere is closing and you've got to head back to the resort where you're staying.
