Sitting at 1,509 metres in the Val di Susa, Sauze combines traditional Italian charm with access to high-altitude skiing, including links to Sestriere, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and Montgenèvre across the border.
The resort is especially popular with intermediate skiers thanks to its tree-lined red runs and wide cruisy pistes, though there are dedicated beginner areas and challenging off-piste for advanced riders.
Famous for the 2006 winter olympics, thankfully Sauze has maintained it's charm as an authentic Italian village. Then, of course, you can't really enjoy the pistes in France because you're watching the clock and racing back for the last lifts.
